Environmental & Process Measurements

Ohio Lumex offers specialty testing services for industrial facilities and specializes in especially challenging measurements including Hg, NH3, SO3, HCl, Se, As, and others. View Measurement Diagram

Our capabilities include online monitoring as well as batch samples using proprietary instrumentation and methodology.  Contact us today to discuss your testing needs.

On-site Analysis

Ohio Lumex offers on-site analysis both independently for when the need arises or as part of our Standby MATS Compliance Service.

We will send a Laboratory Analyst to you to process your samples and provide the know-how and proper equipment for analysis.

On-site Instrument Service

Ohio Lumex Field Service Engineers are available to troubleshoot and resolve problems on-site where they can interact with your instruments and staff to prevent and remediate issues.

Each of our Engineers log an average of 33 hours onsite every week with clients and become familiar with your facility, staff, and specific needs.

SCR Support

As the power generation landscape continues to evolve and new emissions control challenges develop, many coal-fired utilities have begun to search for new strategies in order to optimize SCR performance and catalyst management. This renewed focus is driven by an increase in the number of generating units that must operate at low load (thereby causing problems with ammonium bisulfate plugging the catalyst), a need to reduce operating costs to remain competitive in a changing energy market, an increased awareness of the importance of maintaining a healthy SCR in order to effectively oxidize mercury and comply with MATS, as well as a variety of other factors.

To help manage and optimize your SCR performance, we use in-situ measurements to perform a direct, comprehensive assessment and characterization of the SCR, and provide the tools necessary to effectively manage catalysts. Additional benefits include the ability to predict the impacts of fuel and operational factors on deNOx and Hg oxidation as well as the effects of ammonia slip and SO3 on downstream equipment.

Benefits:
  1. Fast, complete, direct assessment of SCR performance

  2. Use of state of the art non-extractive measurement techniques

Direct In-Situ Measurements (inlet, outlet, interlayer)

Use state of the art instrumentation and proprietary techniques to measure:

  • NH3, Hg Oxidation, SO2 to SO3 Conversion, deNOx, As, Se, Hydrogen Halides (HCl, HBr, etc.)

SCR Management
  1. OEM, advanced, and regenerated catalysts

  2. Predictions of fuel and operational impacts of deNOx and Mercury Oxidation

  3. Effects of ammonia slip and SO3 on downstream equipment

The process starts with the collection of available plant data and discussion to identify unique concerns and goals. This is followed by an initial direct field assessment (benchmark) that is then incorporated into the long-term SCR management program. Additional periodic field performance testing is recommended to fine tune the program and provide ongoing insight into the actual performance of the SCR. This holistic approach is completely independent of other equipment or service providers, ensuring that the utility receives the most cost-effective and technically optimal options available.

  1. Benchmarking

  2. DeNOx Performance

  3. SO2 Conversion Performance

  4. Mercury Oxidation Performance

  5. Catalyst Management

  6. SCR Management

  7. Long-Term Performance Confirmations
